CATARACT SURGERY

FUNCTION:
The cataract is removed, and vision is restored through the insertion of an artificial lens.

PROCEDURE:
The natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens. The procedure takes approximately 20-30 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia.

HEALING:
Visual acuity usually improves within days, but complete healing may take several weeks.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Patients with a clouding of the lens (cataract) that causes impaired vision.
