CORNEAL TRANSPLANTATION
KERATOPLASTY: In this transplant, the damaged cornea is replaced with a donor cornea. This surgery restores vision in patients with severe corneal damage and is often the last resort for advanced corneal disease.
FUNCTION: Restoring vision through transplantation of a donor cornea.
PROCEDURE: Removal of the damaged cornea and replacement of the donor cornea.
HEALING: Healing takes several months, during which vision slowly improves.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Patients with severe corneal damage who require a transplant.
