Multifocal Lens Implantation
Function:
Multifocal lenses are used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia. These lenses provide multiple focal points, allowing the patient to see clearly at different distances—near, intermediate, and far. This reduces or eliminates the need for glasses after surgery.
Procedure:
The procedure is similar to cataract surgery, in which the natural, often cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a multifocal artificial lens. The procedure takes approximately 20-30 minutes per eye and is usually performed under local anesthesia. The surgery is painless, and the patient can usually leave the clinic the same day.
Healing:
The healing period is usually short. Most patients experience a significant improvement in their vision within a few days. However, it may take several weeks for the brain to fully adjust to the new visual conditions.
WHO IS SUITABLE?
Multifocal lenses are ideal for patients who suffer from both presbyopia and cataracts, or who want to avoid the need for glasses after surgery. Patients should be over 18 years old and have no other eye conditions that could affect their vision.
