CROSSLINKING

FUNCTION:

A procedure for treating keratoconus that strengthens the collagen fibers in the cornea and stabilizes the shape of the cornea.

PROCEDURE:

The procedure takes approximately one hour and is performed on an outpatient basis. Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is instilled into the cornea and activated with UV light.

HEALING:

Healing takes several weeks, during which the cornea gradually becomes more stable.

WHO IS SUITABLE?

Patients diagnosed with keratoconus to prevent further deterioration.
